Survive Together Leek

1498. Grace Buckley

Grace Buckley, from Staffordshire, founded 'Survive Together', a community platform connecting those in need in Leek and the Staffordshire Moorlands, to local people able to help.

Tasks on Grace’s platform range from collecting prescriptions, to delivering essential food items, providing both practical and emotional support, particularly for those who are isolating and feeling lonely, while promoting positive change locally.

In a personal letter to Grace, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:

“One of the most uplifting aspects of our country’s response to Coronavirus has been the upswell in solidarity and kindness towards one another.

“So I was thrilled to hear of the success of your initiative which connects people with the desire to help with those most in need. It is thanks to the brilliance of people like yourself that we really will defeat this virus and we will ‘Survive Together’.”

Grace said:

“I am so grateful to receive this award on behalf of all the Survive Together volunteers and our wonderful community.”
