Jewish Care volunteer

2068. Rita Roth

Rita Roth OBE, from London, has volunteered with ‘Jewish Care’ for over 60 years, carrying out her “chocolate drops” every week for people in care.

As a teenager, Rita volunteered at a local hospital, trained as a youth manager for her local Jewish Youth Club and began to volunteer for ‘Jewish Care’. Ever since then, the charity has remained close to her heart and provided vital support to Rita’s mother when she needed personal care. Rita continued to support deliveries of food packages during the pandemic, and raised over £100,000 to help expand the provision of support at Rosetree’s Care Home, where her mother had been a resident before she passed away.

Rita’s award coincides with the ‘Jewish Care’ Annual Dinner, attended by the Prime Minister. (Rita is pictured with the Prime Minister. Picture by Simon Dawson / No 10 Downing Street)
