Walks and Photos

Yasmin and Adam Idrissi Sbai, from County Durham, are siblings whose ‘Walks and Photos’ project has been raising thousands of pounds for local charities through an online photo exhibition of their local area, which people can donate to see.
During the pandemic the duo decided to do something positive for their local community whilst being creative, and started taking pictures on their lockdown walks, which they decided to use as a means of fundraising for charities based in the North East. In particular, they have raised funds for ‘North East Autism Society’ where Adam, who is autistic, benefits from support services.
In a personal letter to Yasmin, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:
“Congratulations on the success of your fantastic ‘Walks and Photos’ project, fundraising for local charities in the North East.
“Your photos have brought to life the beautiful countryside and walks in County Durham for people to enjoy. You have simultaneously raised thousands of pounds for the ‘North East Autism Society’, whose work supports your brother, Adam.”
In a personal letter to Adam, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:
“It is wonderful to hear how you have turned your passion for exploring the beautiful countryside in County Durham into an effort which has raised thousands of pounds for local charities, including the ‘North East Autism Society’.”
Yasmin said:
“I am excited to receive the Points of Light award, and it will encourage me to carry on fundraising with ‘Walks and Photos’. I would like to thank my family and friends for their support and donations for charities.”
Adam said:
“Receiving the Points of Light award is a big surprise. I am happy we have had the support to keep the Walks and Photos project running for just over two years. Here’s to the future!”
