Samantha Davis

Samantha co-founded the charity ‘Little People UK’ with her husband the actor Warwick Davis in 2012 and it has gone on to become an essential resource providing social and financial support, and medical information. As well as attracting a community of 300 members with dwarfism and associated conditions, the charity is supported by a number of highly respected Orthopaedic, Ophthalmic, Neurological and Anaesthetic consultant surgeons, physiotherapists and educational practitioners with a special interest in helping people with dwarfism. Samantha’s award coincides with the final day of ‘Little People UK’’s annual convention.

In a personal letter to Samantha, Prime Minister Theresa May said:

“You should be enormously proud of the important work you have done to create the ‘Little People UK’ charity, raising awareness of people with dwarfism and celebrating their contribution to society. You have built a vital resource to connect people with support and advice where needed and champion better knowledge amongst medics, educators and wider society.”

Shailesh Vara, MP for North West Cambridgeshire, said:

“This award is thoroughly deserved and I am delighted that Samantha’s efforts have been recognised in this way.

“Samantha’s hard work and dedication continue to raise awareness surrounding the issues affecting people with dwarfism and their families.

“Through ‘Little People UK’ and with the help of many dedicated volunteers, Samantha has created a positive environment of support and ensured a wealth of information is available to all.”

Samantha said:

“I am passionate about the work I do for ‘Little People UK’, supporting individuals and families affected by dwarfism. For me, seeing the difference the charity is making to people’s lives is reward enough but my Points of Light award from the Prime Minister is a wonderful honour, one that I proudly accept on behalf of the Little People community.”
