Give Them A Break

1463. Rachel McCaffery

Rachel McCaffery, from Brighton, is a sustainable tourism expert who organised a team of volunteers from across the travel industry to launch ‘Give Them A Break’, a non-profit campaign to give Britain's key workers access to free or discounted holidays as a thank you for keeping the country running during the COVID-19 crisis.

By donating to the ‘Give Them A Break’ fund, the UK public can show their gratitude by helping essential workers have a well deserved family holiday. All funds go to charity partner, ‘The Family Holiday Association’, who allocate free holidays to the most needy families. In addition, ‘Give Them a Break’ has sourced a range of discounted holidays from a range of top travel brands which are available to all UK key workers through the campaign website.

In a personal letter to Rachel, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:

“I want to thank you for your fantastic initiative creating thousands of free and subsidised summer breaks for our key workers.

“Give Them A Break” is a wonderful way to show the admiration and appreciation of the whole nation for those who have put their lives on the line to save the lives of others and to keep our country going.”
