Kriti Sharma

Kriti has been leading efforts to create more diverse and ethical artificial intelligence, and founded the initiative ‘AI for Good’ with the purpose of focusing on building scalable technology solutions that can help address some of the toughest challenges facing society today. These range from providing mental health support to adolescents in low income countries to using confidential chatbot companions to detect signs of domestic abuse and signpost support services to more than 300,000 women at risk in South Africa.

In a personal letter to Kriti, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:

“I know you do this with no thought of praise or reward, but allow me to offer my own recognition of the innovative solutions you have helped to create with the power of Artificial Intelligence. I understand these range from providing mental health support to adolescents in low income countries, to confidential chatbots that signpost support services to hundreds of thousands of women at risk of domestic abuse.”

Kriti said:

“In our first year, we’ve been able to provide 1.5m consultations to people in need on critical topics such as domestic violence in South Africa, reproductive health in India and mental health support globally. This has only been possible by using appropriate AI technologies and designing digital products in a safe, ethical and collaborative manner. This award is a recognition of not only the great work that our AI team is doing but also of our partner, frontline organisations who are embracing AI for social good.”
