Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation

Tammy Main and Jennie Cameron, from Moray, are Manager and Ambassador for ‘Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation’, founded by their 15-year-old daughter and granddaughter, Abbie, who passed away from Sarcoma on Christmas Day 2017.
Before Abbie died, one of her wishes was to create a charity to fundraise for “hospitals and stuff” and help children undergoing treatment. Her family now continue her legacy and, as well as raising awareness of childhood cancer and Sarcoma, have supported 1,697 children with gifts, treats, experiences and grants, known as “sparkles”, which are delivered to hospitals across Scotland, as well as providing respite breaks at ‘Abbie’s Sparkle Lodge’ in the Cairngorms national park.
Tammy, Jennie and ‘Team Sparkle’ have raised £770,000 to date, by undertaking regular fundraising activities, including charity pop up shops, yoga retreats, and ceilidhs. Last year would have been Abbie’s 21st birthday, and together with her best friend Emma, they organised a special birthday celebration raising £37,000, which will go towards continuing to help children and their families.

“Well, this is quite something to take in. We do work hard for Abbie to support Children affected by Cancer and just get on with that day to day, never really expecting recognition. When I shared the fantastic news with Jennie, there were a couple of Sparkly tears knowing that Abbie’s inspirational legacy was going to be awarded in this way. A proud day for our Family, Friends and our Team, for me as her Mum and for our beautiful Abbie.”

“I am honoured to accept this award and to volunteer for my granddaughter Abbie’s legacy to support other children suffering from cancer. It is a great comfort to know we are making a difference in her memory.”
