Pub Charity Champion
1966. Chris O'Reilly
Chris O’Reilly, from Wellingborough, is the landlord of the 'Ranelagh Arms' pub in Wellingborough, which has served as a major community charitable hub for the last 18 years, with over £160,000 raised through the generosity of pub-goers in the past year alone.
Ever since taking over the pub, Chris has wanted to bring the local community together, setting up a series of regular fundraisers including quiz nights, raffles and a popular swear box, to channel a spirit of giving and help support local causes and charities close to residents’ hearts. During the Coronavirus pandemic, while the pub was forced to close, Chris also played a vital role in supporting his local community, particularly vulnerable residents, and held regular distanced walking meet-ups to help people still remain connected and active.
