Susannah Arrowsmith and Andy Ireland, from Liverpool, run free, daily online exercise classes to keep the people of Liverpool moving, ensuring access for all abilities and fitness levels.
Susannah and Andy have been running Healthiness Ltd since 2011, providing a variety of exercise classes that have benefitted over 3,000 participants. Since the start of the pandemic, they have been offering their classes for free to older people who have been required to shield or self-isolate, enabling them to remain active whilst remaining indoors.
In a personal letter to Susannah, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:
“I know from my own battle with Coronavirus the importance of staying physically fit and well. Becoming healthier is not about the big changes but about little changes each day which is why I am delighted that you are helping people do the same with your daily virtual workouts.”
In a personal letter to Andy, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:
“Together, you have brought a dynamic daily fitness routine to the people of Liverpool, ensuring their physical and mental wellbeing during lockdown.
“One of the most uplifting aspects of our nation’s response to Coronavirus has been how communities have come together to look after each other. So, on behalf of the whole country, thank you – and many congratulations!”
Susannah and Andy said:
“We at Healthiness Ltd are humbled and honoured to accept the Prime Minister’s daily Points of Light award in recognition of the work we have done during these trying times.
“The Team have worked tirelessly over the last 8 months to connect, help and improve the lives of the most vulnerable older adults in the region, making a positive physical, mental and social change to hundreds of people during many months of isolation, loneliness and uncertainty.
“We thank the Prime Minister, the Team and the communities we serve and will continue to strive to make a difference whatever life throws at us next.”
