Young people can also engage in the skill-building sessions Jane and the charity run, specially designed to increase their employability and help them with further integration into society.

In a personal letter to Jane, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:

“I know you do this with no thought of praise or reward, but allow me to offer my own recognition of how through ‘Buddy’s for Children with Autism’ you have created a unique space for families and children with autism to meet up, make friends and feel part of their community.”

Jane said:

“I am super overwhelmed at being recognised for the Points of Light Award, though I can’t be singled out as it’s a group effort from all our volunteers at Buddy’s who have given so much over the years. I am the person I am today because of the effort of all our volunteers, we all love the work we do at Buddy’s and Autism in general.”

The daily Points of Light award recognises outstanding individual volunteers - people who are making a change in their community.
